Do I need a Recreational Fishing Licence?

Unless you are exempt, a Recreational Fishing Licence (RFL) is required when taking, or attempting to take from public water, any species of fish by any method. Exemptions: You will not need an RFL to fish if you are;

• Under 18 years of age
• 70 years of age or over
• The holder of a Victorian Seniors Card or interstate equivalent
• The holder of a particular pensioner or veteran cards (please call 136 186).

You are advised to carry your RFL or evidence of your exemption with you at all times whilst fishing.Penalties apply for fishing without a licence.

How do I get a Recreational Fishing License?
