One year has passed since the tragic Black Saturday Bushfires of 2009. However with the support of the wider community, affected regions have come a long way in rebuilding their homes and their lives over the past twelve months.
To celebrate and support such extraordinary progress, come down and enjoy the great festivals, art exhibitions and sporting events on offer throughout February such as:-

The Shire of Murrindindi is located North East of Melbourne and encompasses the townships and villages of Alexandra, Buxton, Eildon, Flowerdale, Highlands, Kerrisdale, Kinglake, Lake Mountain, Marysville, Narbethong, Strath Creek, Taggerty, Thornton, Toolangi, Yea and Yarck.
Mitchell Shire is located less than one hour north of Melbourne in the heart of Victoria and incorporates the townships of Wallan, Kilmore, Broadford, Beveridge, Wandong, Heathcote Junction, Pyalong, Tallarook, Seymour, Puckapunyal and Tooborac.
WILD ART AT OLD POST OFFICE – SEYMOUR

The annual Wild Art Exhibition of Wildlife and Natural Landscape features a truly inspiring collection of paintings by internationally acclaimed Australian Artists. Wildlife artists, including artists from the Goulburn Valley, will be showcased Wednesday to Sunday 11am to 4pm and Tuesday to Friday evening from 6pm until late, with all other times by appointment only. Entry is free, with complimentary refreshments served at the exhibition opening.

ALEXANDRA RACE CLUB - TRIBUTE TO THE LIGHT HORSE

This Picnic Racing event pays special tribute to the soldiers and horses of the Australian Light Horse who returned ninety years ago from the battlefields of Europe and the Middle East. Many families in the district have connections to the Victorian 8th and 9th Australian Light Horse so come along as a mark of respect and enjoy all that this exciting country race day has to offer, including The Creswick Light Horse Troop and Prince of Wales Light Horse Military Band.

THE MARYSVILLE-LAKE MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE

Over 1,500 cyclists entered The Marysville-Lake Mountain Challenge in May 2009, resulting in a direct donation of $38,225.00 to the Australian Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal. Participation is anticipated to be bigger and better in 2010. The Marysville-Lake Mountain Challenge course, a fusion of stunning scenery, challenging climbs and inspiring views of fire-affected areas that are rebuilding, will make for a truly memorable experience.

THE GRANITE GRIND

To run alongside the Marysville-Lake Mountain Challenge, Lake Mountain Alpine Resort presents a mountain bike event on the same day to launch stage one of its new mountain bike trail network. The Granite Grind offers a great opportunity to trial these new mountain bike trails, based on a 9km loop, with entrants having the option of a one or two lap race. The competition will commence at 10:00am, with registration from 8:30am.

SEYMOUR ALTERNATIVE FARMING EXPO

One of the most successful Alternative Farming Expo’s will be held in Seymour from February 19-21, 2010. The three day event is expected to see over 50,000 people visit Seymour where more than 550 exhibitors present the world’s best agricultural technology.
On show will be leading edge farm machinery, products and services from around the globe as well as Australia’s unique engineered and technical solutions to the challenges of farming in Australia. The expo will be held at Kings Park in Seymour.
