MURRINDINDI MITCHELL BUSHFIRE TOURISM RECOVERY GROUP LAUNCHES INTO TH - Thu, Feb 25 2010

The Murrindindi Mitchell Bushfire Tourism Recovery Group (MMBTRG) has launched a ‘Bushfire Recovery: Murrindindi Mitchell Bushfire Tourism Recovery Group’ Facebook Fan Page in an exciting new move for the recovery group into the dynamic Social Media world.

The MMBTRG Facebook Fan Page provides fans with details on festivals, events and accommodation deals, activities and general information on the Mitchell and Murrindindi regions under the banner of “Watch Us Grow”.

“This is a great opportunity for us to continue to update consumers and tourists that we are open for business and on the rebuilding and growth in the region. As well as providing up to date news on all things tourism-related from events to accommodation and deals as well as new and re-opening businesses in the Murrindindi and Mitchell regions of Victoria,” said MMBTRG Chairman– Mark Challis.

MMBTRG hopes that the MMBTRG Facebook Fan Page will continue to grow and increase its network of followers and encourages all locals to also join up and support this initiative.

“This is a great opportunity for the MMBTRG to tap into the social media platform and will allow us to communicate and circulate tourism news not only with locals, but it will also allow the region to communicate with new customers and share information with a world wide audience,” said Challis.



MMBTRG’s mantra is -- ACTION NOW -- to spread the message that they are open for business, to get tourists back to the regions and to proactively assist the wide range of tourism-related businesses to rebuild and recover from a downturn in business.
The collaborative body has employed the services of leading Victorian-based marketing communication and IT specialists to launch a nationwide campaign to welcome back tourists the areas, both directly and indirectly impacted by the Bushfires. And is led by a dynamic steering committee – made up of leading tourism and business identities from across both shires.

Local business operators, visitors to the region as well as locals are encouraged to become a fan of the MMBTRG Facebook Fan Page and post comments and photos of the tourism experiences in the region.

The Shire of Murrindindi is located North East of Melbourne and encompasses the townships and villages of Alexandra, Buxton, Eildon, Flowerdale, Highlands, Kerrisdale, Kinglake, Lake Mountain, Marysville, Narbethong, Strath Creek, Taggerty, Thornton, Toolangi, Yea and Yarck.
Mitchell Shire is located less than one hour north of Melbourne in the heart of Victoria and incorporates the townships of Wallan, Kilmore, Broadford, Beveridge, Wandong, Heathcote Junction, Pyalong, Tallarook, Seymour, Puckapunyal and Tooborac.
